Common questions

Short answers to the questions people ask us most. If yours isn’t here, just ask.

What is final expense insurance?

A type of whole life insurance with a smaller coverage amount. Families often use it for funeral costs, final medical bills, or other expenses.

Who issues the policy?

The insurance company issues the policy and decides on your application. Buckeye Final Expense helps you compare options and apply.

How are the prices on this website calculated?

They are estimates based on the insurance companies’ published Ohio rates and the answers you give. The final price is set by the insurance company after it reviews your application.

What is the difference between level, graded, and guaranteed issue?

Level benefit: the full coverage amount is available from the day the policy starts.

Graded benefit: this plan has a waiting period. During it, a death from illness pays a reduced amount or a refund of payments. Your agent will explain the exact terms.

Guaranteed issue: no health questions to qualify. This plan has a waiting period before the full amount is paid for a death from illness. Your agent will explain the exact terms.

Does saving a quote start my coverage?

No. Saving a quote lets us contact you about your options. Coverage begins only after the insurance company approves your application.

Will you ask for my Social Security number or bank details online?

No. Our website never asks for them.

Are my health answers private?

Yes. Your health answers are used to find options that fit you. They are kept private, and only our licensed agents see them.

Do you help people outside Ohio?

Not at this time. We serve Ohio residents only.

Can I get a quote for a family member?

Yes. Choose “A family member” at the start of the quote and answer the questions about them. The person being covered takes part in the application.
